My friend and I found these short Jizo statues at Hase-dera Temple in Kamahura after we’ve visited Daibutsu at Kotokuin Temple. We were quite surprised with the height and faces of these statues as we never saw something like this before. And the we found hundreds of small Jizo statues when we walked further.

Based on information in wikipedia, those hundreds of statues were left here by parents mourning offspring lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.

After paying respect to the statues, we then walked along the Hydrangea Path and met other three little Jizos.

Apart from the jizos, there were many interesting things to see around the temple area. We really enjoyed our time there.
